Hello, I'm Danielle and I have been practicing psychotherapy since 2015. I earned a BA degree in Psychology from Vanguard University in 2009 and went on to earn a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2015 from Denver Seminary. I have a great deal of experience working with individuals in various stages of life from adolescence to adulthood. I understand how difficult it can be to reach out for help. When mental health symptoms come up, it can seem impossible to feel like yourself or find the energy and motivation to work toward your goals. I’d love to partner with you and help you find your spark again. I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for individuals to explore underlying reasons that may contribute to these symptoms and develop tools to help improve functioning. You will also get to meet my therapy dog Shasta, who loves to assist with the therapeutic process and brings so much unconditional love and comfort in sessions. Let’s find that catalyst for change that will support you in living the life that you deserve!

What is Canine Assisted Therapy? 

It can be difficult for people to show up in therapy and express their feelings. Especially for teens! For some, it may even feel like it is easier to connect to an animal than another human. Dogs can have a very calming presence for many and may make it easier to express your emotions and open up. Petting a dog and receiving affection in return has shown to lower blood pressure, reduce stress, and release serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin (all brain chemicals that can improve our mood).

Shasta is a 4 year old hypoallergenic mini golden doodle. She is very loving and affectionate. This girl is obsessed with cuddling, running at the beach and playing fetch.

What is EMDR therapy?

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a structured therapy that uses bilateral stimulation (usually with eye movements) to help individuals process and heal from traumatic memories. You don't have to have extensive trauma to benefit from EMDR though! We have all delt with difficult situations and unhelpful thought patterns that get in the way of our day to day, and EMDR can be a great therapeutic tool to improve your overall well-being.

Rates and Availability

I am currently accepting new clients. In-person sessions are available on Mondays and Wednesdays in Carlsbad.  Virtual therapy services are also available Monday-Thursday.

I do accept insurance and am in network with Aetna, Cigna, and Optum (United Healthcare, Oscar, and Oxford). If you are out of network and a cash paying client, I can provide you with a Superbill. This is an invoice that you can provide to your insurance company. Depending on your out of network coverage, you may be reimbersed for the services provided. I cannot guarentee any reimbursements.
